I believe that looking good gives you the reassurance that you need to feel good about yourself and the confidence to face the world.

Now, this isn’t about you wearing fashion trends or spending all your savings to get fashion items, but a wake-up call on why you should always try as much as possible to look good.

Also, looking good has to do with the generality of your physical appearance. Practicing proper personal hygiene is just as important as dressing well; they go hand-in-hand.

Dress Well

“The way we dress affects the way we think, the way we act and the way others react to us.”

Judith Rasband

There is a link between what we wear and how we feel. The confidence you get from what you wear is what makes you feel good mentally and emotionally, and the way you feel about yourself affects your interaction with others.

Here are a few things to note, to help you dress better:

Choose/Wear Clothes that Fit

It is important to always pick outfits that suit your size and body type. Go for outfits that fit you perfectly.

Dress Right for Each Occasion

The clothes you’d wear to a party might not look so good in another setting. Imagine wearing a crop top and bum shorts to a professional meeting where everyone else is suited up. Dress according to the occasion so you don’t end up feeling out of place.

If You Don’t Feel Great in it, Don’t Wear it

Always choose outfits that fit your style. You do not have to step out of your comfort zone to look good. You can be stylish as well as comfortable in what you wear. For example, if you are not comfortable showing too much skin, then don’t wear clothes that will make you look scantily dressed, making you uncomfortable.

Personal Hygiene

Personal hygiene matters a lot when it comes to feeling good and having confidence in oneself. Refusing to take proper care of your body and oral health will not only restrict your interaction with people but also bury your self-confidence.

A good practice of personal hygiene helps provide a pleasant perception of oneself and also helps you maintain a good appearance. You cannot go on and dress well to look good when your breath or your body stink. NO!!!!!!!

Essential types of personal hygiene to be practiced are:

Bath

Bathing helps sanitize the body and helps keep the body fresh. Body image has a prime influence on self-esteem and confidence.

“Take care of your body. It is the only place you have to live.”

Jim Rohn

Shaving

This is the removal of hair from certain areas of the body, like the armpit and genital area. The armpit produces sweat, and sweat stains on the armpit hair can cause the armpit to be dark and smelly. Keep your armpits neatly shaved and clean to avoid unpleasant odors.

Oral Hygiene

Brush your teeth every day with a decent toothbrush and toothpaste to avoid bad breath. You don’t want people covering their noses while you speak, do you? This can take a toll on your confidence. Clean your mouth and teeth properly, and smile with confidence.

Hair

Unkempt hair has lots to say about one’s appearance. A clean haircut and a neat hairdo will go a long way toward maintaining a good appearance.

Deodorants

Apply deodorants to avoid foul odors or scents caused by sweat.

“If you don’t smell good, you don’t look good”

Katy Elizabeth

Bottomline

To build or boost your confidence, you need to work on your overall physical appearance. Dressing well is just as important as taking proper care of your body.
